Vinyl (uPVC) is the standard for Canadian windows for good reason: it doesn't conduct cold the way aluminum does, never needs painting like wood, and costs significantly less than fiberglass or composite — while modern multi-chamber profiles match their thermal performance.
Not all vinyl windows are equal, though. Big-box stock windows use thinner-walled extrusions and mechanically fastened corners that open up over years of freeze-thaw cycling. Ours are fusion-welded at every corner — the frame becomes a single continuous piece — with multi-chamber profiles that trap insulating air and accept steel reinforcement on large spans.
Every vinyl window we sell is manufactured in our Calgary facility to the millimetre, in casement, awning, slider, hung, picture, and bay/bow configurations, with interior and exterior colour options beyond builder white.

Yes — vinyl is a poor heat conductor, which is exactly what you want at -35°C. Quality multi-chamber vinyl frames with Low-E argon glass are the best value-for-performance window in the Alberta market.
Quality fusion-welded vinyl windows last 25–40 years. The sealed glass unit is usually the first component to age, and ours are covered by a transparent manufacturer warranty.
Fiberglass is stiffer and accepts dark paint better, but costs 30–60% more for a few percent of thermal gain. For most Alberta homes, premium vinyl is the smarter spend.
