Triple pane windows add a third sheet of glass and a second insulating argon cavity. In a climate that regularly sees -30°C, that third pane does three jobs: it cuts conducted heat loss by roughly a third compared to double glazing, it keeps the interior glass surface warm enough to stop condensation and frost, and it noticeably deadens traffic and wind noise.
The case for triple pane is stronger in Alberta than almost anywhere else in Canada. Bedrooms stay comfortable next to the glass, humidity can be kept at healthy levels without windows weeping, and north-facing rooms stop feeling like the cold side of the house.
